KFMA DAY


Saturday, April 23rd, 2:00-6:00 P.M.

Join KMFA as we celebrate classical music together since 1967!

This free, community event  will feature building tours, family friendly activities, food vendors, free beverages, musical performances, and opportunities to meet our on-air broadcasters and visit with community music partners.

RSVPs are only required if you plan to attend our featured performances in the Draylen Mason Music Studio.

Please choose which of these performances you'd like to attend:

2:30-3:00 PM: Brent Baldwin of Convergence will present a new work entitled Peace is Every Step
3:30-4:00 PM: Austin Saxophone Ensemble
4:30-5:00 PM: Invoke Austin Camerata String Quartet (changed due to performer illness)
5:30-6:00PM: Donald Grantham's World Premiere of Love Songs Sweet and Sour featuring mezzo soprano Liz Cass and pianist Carla McElhaney

2:00pm - 2:30pm Line Upon Line performs on the Malcom Cooper Plaza

2:00pm - 2:30pm & 3:00pm - 3:30pm Join Armstrong Community Music School in the Margret & Michael Miller Conference Room for a family singalong featuring new and familiar songs! Children and grownups alike will move, shake, and sing together. Especially geared towards children ages 0-5, these singalongs provide a musically rich environment to bond as a family while benefiting from developmentally appropriate music making activities.  

4:00pm - 4:30pm Line Upon Line performs on the Malcom Cooper Plaza

4:00pm - 6:00pm Join Blackerby Violin Shop in the Margret & Michael Miller Conference Room for an interactive instrument petting zoo featuring all the instruments in the orchestral string family. Never played a string instrument before? This is your chance! Fractional-sized and full-sized instruments are available to try for children and adults alike.

COVID-19 PRE-SCREENING


Face coverings are optional for fully vaccinated attendees. It is highly encouraged that guests be vaccinated to help control the spread of COVID-19. If you answer "Yes" to any of the following three questions, please stay home:
- Have you tested positive for COVID-19 within the previous 5 days (April 18th - April 23rd)?
- Have you had close contact with a person suspected to have COVID-19 within the previous 5 days (April 18th - April 23rd)?
- Have you experienced symptoms associated with COVID-19 within the past 24 hours?

 A COVID-19 pre-screening questionnaire containing these three questions will be given at KMFA Day prior to the start of the Draylen Mason Music Studio Featured Performance(s) you attend. You will be required to answer the pre-screening questions before attending the featured performance(s) you RSVP'd for. If you answer "Yes" to any of the three questions above, you will be asked not to enter the Draylen Mason Music Studio.

Note: A COVID-19 Pre-Screening will only be required for guests attending the featured performances.
